ST. MARK RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

St. Mark Parish Religious Education Program is preparing a plan for reopening in-person student participation. An announcement will be posted on the Parish Website when certification to reopen R.E. classes has been received. After certification to reopen, students will be seated 6 feet apart in classrooms that adhere to COVID-19 Social Distancing protocol. Students will not enter the building until their temperatures are taken. Additionally, students will be required to keep a 6′ distance in hallways, within classrooms, to wear a mask, and to wash and sanitize hands, upon entering the building. Students who enter classrooms first will leave last – first in, last out – last in, first out.Classrooms with both entrance and exit doors will be utilized for entering and exiting through the appropriate doors as directed. All floors and desktops have been measured and marked for 6′ distancing. Designated seating has been labeled. Signs have been posted on main entrance/exit doors, on classroom walls, hallway walls, and in restrooms. For students who forget their masks, masks will be made available. Classrooms and hallways will be sanitized throughout the day, and at the end of day. Restrooms will be sanitized after each usage. Religious Education hours have been reduced to one hour instead of one hour and twenty minutes. Children should be well fed before coming to class. Snacks will not be available as in the past. Please allow your child to attend class with a water bottle. Students will not be allowed to enter, if they are feeling ill. COVID-19 symptoms are posted on entrance/exit doors. You will be expected to wait outside the building for your child to be released from designated doors for the purpose of avoiding large crowds gathered within the building.

For questions, please contact the R.E. Office by email, re@stmarkwheaton.org.

Parents of students who participated in the R.E. Program before the COVID-19 quarantine, and who have anticipated having their child return for the RE Program Year 2020-2021, will be contacted by email. A St. Mark Parish R.E. 20-21 enrollment status that mirrors the 19-20 enrollment count, can easily be adapted and accommodated for the 20-21 safety and wellness protocol plan for reopening.
